Paul’s advice to the Corinthians about marriage (I Corinthians 7:10-17) was just as out of synch with his culture as it is today in ours. He calls us to live cross current lives, to live distinctive from our culture, particularly in our attitudes and actions in marriage. In our society, the broken family is the new norm, easy divorce common. Everyone has been touched by these realities. In this sermon, Pastor John Leonard explores Paul’s counsel on the nature of marriage and the biblical basis of divorce. What we find here is a set of relational expectations that are beyond our ability. We are called to a life that requires dependence on saving grace and nowhere is this more evident than in our marriages.
