In honor of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Frederick Douglass (1818-1895), an enslaved African in America, who escaped to freedom and became a leading orator, abolitionist, writer, publisher, and statesman, Ruth Naomi Floyd and her ensemble present jazz works comprised of original compositions based on his speeches and writings.
The event is being held in the Springside Chestnut Hill Academy Epiphany Chapel.
